Why I Don't Deliver RAW Images Details below, with a few examples.
Studio Mission Statement My Mission Statement.
It's probably the question I am asked most often by new clients. I don't deliver RAW images because the files directly out of the camera require processing in a RAW file converter to either TIFF or JPEG format. RAW image converters (sometimes called processors) are improving constantly and you can be sure I have the latest conversion software available. RAW file conversions are almost always less than perfect when using older software or the person doing the conversions is not properly trained. My clients hire me because they like my style and a part of my style comes from my skill in carrying out the RAW file conversions.
Below are two sets of images, the first in each is the directly-out-of-the-camera RAW file converted to a JPEG with no adjustments. The second image in each set is the same file properly converted to a JPEG. You will see a remarkable difference in the images even though they began life as the same file!
Set #1: Notice overall color balance, lightened eye sockets, and crop in second image.

Set #2: Again, notice overall color balance, brightening of both nurse's eyes, and removal of unsightly cord in upper left background.
