We've all seen the shot a thousand times: the CEO on the site of their new corporate offices under construction. Steel girders, heavy machinery, shot from eye level, blah, blah, blah. Same old, same old b-o-r-i-n-g.
I wanted to do something a little different for this one. I asked the subject if he'd mind getting on the crane's construction ball that happened to be onsite that day. I explained to the site foreman what I wanted to do and he was nervous to say the least. It was a flat out, "No way!" Then I had an idea: I could lie flat on the ground (who cares about MY pants?!), the ball could be raised just two feet above the ground, and I'd get the shot. This he was OK with, sort of.
He told us he'd to take a walk to the far end of the project and when he returned, we "would be finished." I replied yes sir, got the shots I needed, and was outta' there in less than five minutes! The client loved the shot so much that the shot was used in their annual report.
